ALONE

The clock is my worst enemy

It ticks with chilling regularity

You should be next to me, annexed to me

I long for your touch,

the warmth of your body

But I'm alone. Always, always alone

The long days without you drain me

I feel weary and subdued

Depression is my only companion

You should be with me,

to cheer me

But I’m alone, always, always alone

The long nights are the bleakest hours

As I yearn for the sound of your voice

We should be together, hand in hand

But I am alone, always, utterly alone!

My love awaits you, but not forever

I am patient, but not a fool

You must come to me soon,

for I will not Always, always be alone
